Las izquierdas bolivianas en el "pre-52": Un balance historiográfico

Abstract

El socialismo y el comunismo, el anarquismo y el trotskismo fueron importantes protagonistas de la historia social, política e intelectual de Bolivia en las décadas previas a la Revolución de abril de 1952. Este artículo intenta recuperar esa historia, a través de un balance historiográfico en el que analizamos críticamente la bibliografía existente en Bolivia y el extranjero dedicada a estos temas. Una de nuestras hipótesis principales sugiere que el desarrollo histórico que tuvieron esas identidades políticas de izquierda en la Bolivia del "pre-52", supera ampliamente lo que la historiografía militante y académica produjo sobre ellas. Así, en el artículo nos concentramos en las razones que hay detrás del desbalance entre historia e historiografía y avanzamos en un recorrido historiográfico que nos permite no sólo ponderar los aportes realizados y las líneas interpretativas desarrolladas hasta la actualidad e identificar los debates entre autores y corrientes político-historiográficas, sino también detectar las vacancias que merecen ser incorporadas en la agenda de futuras pesquisas.

Socialism and communism, anarchism and Trotskyism played a leading role in Bolivia's social and political history in the decades before the April 1952 Revolution. The present article attempts to recover that history, through a historiographic balance in which we critically analyze the existing bibliography in Bolivia and abroad on these issues. One of our main hypotheses is that the historical development that these different left wing expressions had in the Bolivia “pre-52”, exceeds what militant and academic historiography has produced about them. Thus, in the article we concentrate on the reasons behind this imbalance between history and historiography and we advance in a historiographic path that allows us to weigh the contributions made and the interpretative lines developed until the present, identify the debates between authors and currents, and detect unexplored topics and problems that deserve to be incorporated in the agenda of future research.
