Arte comunitario: Criterios para su definición

Abstract

Este artículo revisa el término “arte comunitario” (community arts). En primer lugar se hace un breve recorrido histórico a nivel internacional, en tanto es un término surgido principalmente en diferentes países angloparlantes y utilizado para describir prácticas artísticas de naturaleza grupal, que implican la participación en un proceso creativo y su desarrollo en la comunidad. Se presentan sus antecedentes, definiciones, impactos y metodología aplicadas. Del mismo modo, se presenta una revisión bibliográfica en base a la literatura en español, en tanto se entiende que esta noción no puede comprenderse exclusivamente desde tal perspectiva para estudios alejados de aquellos ámbitos; aquí se intenta analizarlo dentro de la complejidad latinoamericana frente a la herencia anglosajona del término. El fin último es conocer si este término es aplicable en el ámbito local y cuál es el grado de avance en la investigación académica sobre el arte comunitario en estos contextos.

This work develops of a theoretical reflection of community arts. Firstly, because of the Anglo-Saxon inheritance of the concept of community arts, a review of the international historical development of community arts must be made. The field of community arts is distinct because of its group nature, the active participation of its members in a creative process and because it develops in the community. Presented here are, the background, definitions, impacts and applied methodologies of community arts. Spanish academic literature of community arts is also reviewed because these concepts cannot be completely understood if Anglo-Saxon perspectives are solely used for studies outside of that sphere. Here, it is intended to analize the integration of Latin-American concepts into community arts. The Objective of this paper is to understand if the term ‘community arts’ is applicable in the local sphere and the extent to which the concept has been advanced in academic research about community arts in the Latin-American context.
