La escenificación del conocimiento oficial

Abstract

Dentro de una línea de investigación sobre la construcción discursiva del conocimiento en un contexto institucional, se plantea aquí rastrear los vínculos entre elementos de cooperación y de conflicto que se manifiestan en el nivel concreto de la interacción y condiciones de nivel macro en la sociedad. Los datos provienen de procesos penales y consisten en las interacciones verbales entre testigos y abogados litigantes. Se identifican dos rutinas interaccionales recurrentes como son mecanismos de inscripción de lo oficialmente conocido. Se examina la relación entre esta inscripción y la verdad institucional. Además, el análisis de la censura a las desviaciones revela la concepción institucional sobre el conocer. En una rutina, se instaura una puesta en escena para la introducción de contenido como si fuera novedoso en el aquí y ahora. En la otra, se hace prevalecer información que proviene de un hecho de habla en un momento anterior y en otro lugar. La investigación que se reporta logra determinar la función de la escenificación llevada a cabo con las rutinas, su relación con ideales institucionales, y su efecto en el vínculo individuo-colectividad. Por otro lado, se revelan relaciones sociales estratificadas entre diversas categorías de interactuantes que van más allá de los roles situacionales e involucran las posiciones sociales de los participantes.

Within a line of research on the discursive construction of knowledge in an institutional context, the aim of this paper is to trace the links between the elements of cooperation and conflict manifest at the concrete level of the interaction and macro-level social conditions. The data come from criminal trials and consist in interactions between witnesses and trial lawyers. Two recurrent international routines are identified as mechanisms of inscription of what becomes officially known. Besides, the analysis of censored deviations reveals the institutional conception of knowing. In one routine, a scene is staged for introducing content as if it was new in the here and now. In the other, the privileged information that is made to prevail comes from a speech event which took place earlier and in a different place. The research reported here manages to determine the function of the staging which is achieved by these routines, its relation with institutional ideals, and its effect on the individual-collectivity bond. Furthermore, stratified social relations are revealed between various categories of interactants which go beyond situational roles and involve the social positions of participants.
