Morrillos de Ansilta is one of the most important archaeological sites in San Juan; various manifestations of rock art make up a part of its cultural record. To deepen the knowledge of these representations, we carry out a detailed survey of the sector called Morrillo Chato and locate some petroglyphs nearby. As a result, we find five rocks with petroglyphs in the so-called Intermediate Sector and increased the total number of representations in the Morrillo Chato rockshelters sector from nine to 24. Regarding the recorded paintings, two significant elements are the presence of some definite areas painted in red and the reinterpretation of two of the main representations. The first of these, characterized by a central vertical axis with spiral extensions, would be a schematic anthropomorph. Another figure with three anthropomorphic motifs with a circular body shows the subjection of a fourth anthropomorph with different characteristics, in what could represent a real confrontation or one linked to some myth. The petroglyphs in the Intermediate Sector show mainly zoomorphic and anthropomorphic, not stylistically homogeneous, motifs. Based on the archaeological record of the site and the characteristics of local rock art, I propose a possible sequence of production moments. It places most of the paintings and petroglyphs between ca. 3500 cal AC and 800 cal DC, and constitutes a model capable of future analysis and discussion.
