La República Argentina en usos: Significados populistas, liberales y republicanos en disputa

Abstract

En el último bienio el término república ha sido objeto de un interesante debate académico entre historiadores y filósofos políticos argentinos. El desafío argumentativo de quienes han participado en este debate es doble. Por un lado, se pretende identificar el uso semántico contemporáneo predominante. Por el otro, se desea evaluar cual es el significado normativo más adecuado que debiera asignarse a dicho significante. En este trabajo de historia conceptual de lo político reciente efectuaremos tres operaciones argumentativas complejas. En primer lugar, contextualizaremos dicho debate específico en el marco de una aparente pero acuciante paradoja política argentina de tipo populista-libertaria la cual denota un momento impolítico contemporáneo. En segundo lugar, explicitaremos un uso semántico republicano reflexivo del término república que es diverso del propuesto desde los discursos políticos populistas y libertarios. En tercer lugar, brindaremos argumentos en defensa de la aceptabilidad y sustentabilidad hipotéticas de dicho uso semántico dado el escenario político no ideal argentino contemporáneo.

In the last two years, the term republic has been the subject of an interesting academic debate among historians and Argentine political philosophers. The argumentative challenge of those who have participated in this debate is twofold. On the one hand, it is intended to identify the predominant contemporary semantic use. On the other hand, we want to evaluate what is the most appropriate normative meaning that should be assigned to this signifier. In this work on the conceptual history of the recent political, we will carry out three complex argumentative operations. In the first place, we will contextualize this specific debate within the framework of an apparent but pressing Argentine political paradox of a populistlibertarian type which denotes a contemporary impolitically moment. Secondly, we will explain a reflexive republican semantic use of the term republic that is different from that proposed from populist and libertarian political discourses. In the third place, we will offer arguments in defense of the hypothetical acceptability and sustainability of said semantic use given the contemporary Argentine nonideal political scenario.
