Primeros esfuerzos historiográficos en defensa de las provincias y sus caudillos: la "Historia de López", de Ramón Lassaga

Abstract

En este artículo se realiza un análisis textual y contextual de la "Historia de López" (Buenos Aires, Imprenta y Librería de Mayo, 1881), principal obra historiográfica del historiador santafesino Ramón Lassaga (1858-1921). En ella se hace visible un discurso histórico que tiende a exaltar al pasado provincial y a sus caudillos por su contribución a la historia argentina, en sintonía con otras obras que irían apareciendo desde diversos espacios regionales. Interesa particularmente considerar la forma en la que Lassaga, el historiador santafesino más destacado del periodo de entresiglos (Ss. XIX-XX), se posicionó frente a los grandes relatos nacionales, a fin de determinar en qué medida fue tributario de las escuelas reconocidas, y hasta dónde entró en tensión con discursos que habían minimizado o cuestionado el rol desempeñado por las provincias en el proceso de construcción de la nación argentina.

In this paper we present a textual and contextual analysis of the History of López (Buenos Aires, Imprenta y Librería de Mayo, 1881), the historiographical main work of the historian of Santa Fe, Ramón Lassaga (1858-1921). It reveals a historical discourse that tends to exalt the provincial past and its warlords for their contribution to the history of Argentina, in relationship with other works that appeared from various regional areas. We are particularly interested in considering the way that Lassaga, the most prominent historian of Santa Fe of the period of the ending of XIX century and the beginning of XX century, positioned himself in front of the big national stories. We sought to determine how much he was influenced by recognized schools, and how far he came in tension with discourses that minimized or questioned the role played by the provinces in the process of building Argentina nation.
