Aspectos lucrecianos en el discurso de Sinón (Aen. 2, 69-194)

Abstract

In this work we will analyze some elements of the speech delivered by Sinon (Aen. 2, 69-194), which can be associated with the ideological system of De rerum natura. It is our objective to identify and examine in the passage the lexical and semantic records of the Lucretian hypotext, and to describe its process of appropriation and resignification in the Virgilian text. We will try to demonstrate Virgil?s reconfiguration of two central axes of the Lucretian doctrine already studied by critics: first, the martial character of the words, declared in the syntagm dictis, non armis, (Lucr. 5, 50); second, the epicurean psychology in the heroes who intervene in the passage, manipulated by Sinon for his own benefit.
