Comprensión de textos de Ciencias Naturales y Tecnología mediada por recursos TIC

Abstract

Los textos expositivo-explicativos de Ciencias Naturales y Tecnología le exigen al lector el uso de estrategias de lectura adecuadas y de conocimientos lingüísticos, del tema y del mundo. Los resultados de numerosas investigaciones muestran que la detección de la superestructura, la selección de las ideas más relevantes y su vinculación son tareas que presentan ciertas dificultades. A fin de favorecer la comprensión y el aprendizaje a partir de textos, implementamos tres talleres; uno destinado a profesores y dos a estudiantes de nivel secundario, coordinados por docentes con formación en Ciencias Naturales, Tecnología y Lingüística. El objetivo consistió en generar espacios para que docentes y estudiantes reflexionaran sobre cómo influyen ciertascaracterísticas textuales, como la superestructura en el logro de la comprensión lectora. Para presentar la información de los textos resaltando su organización y la relación entre los conceptos, utilizamos el recurso CmapTools, propio de la Tecnología de la Información y la Comunicación (TIC), el cual permite realizar un organizador gráfico que muestra las ideas y sus relaciones de forma rápida y sencilla, posibilitando la inclusión de imágenes, videos, texto e hipervínculos. El trabajo en los talleres muestra que tanto alumnos como docentes pudieron identificar la superestructura de los textos y diseñar organizadores gráficos que manifiestan la multisemiosis característica de Ciencias Naturales y Tecnología. Esto permitiría favorecer la comprensión y, en consecuencia,el aprendizaje del contendido disciplinar. La utilización del recurso TIC ha posibilitado, además, una mejor presentación de las producciones, siendo un aspecto motivador de gran importancia en ambos grupos.

The expository/explanatory texts of Natural Science and Technology demand, on the reader, the use of linguistic, subject, and world knowledge and effi cient reading strategies. The results of several investigations suggest certain reading diffi culties related to the identifi cation of the text superstructure, the selection of the main ideas and the relationships between them. With the aim of favoring comprehension, as well as learning from texts, we implemented three workshops for secondary level teachers and students, which were coordinated by teachers of Natural Science, Technology and Linguistics. The objective was to off er a space where teachers and students could refl ect on the infl uence of certain textual features, like the superstructure, on the level of comprehension they reach. In order to present the information from texts, highlighting its organization and the relation between concepts, we used CMapTools, an Information and Communication Technology resource (ICT), which allows the construction of a graphic organizer that shows the main ideas and their relations and allows, if necessary, the inclusion of images, videos, texts and hyperlinks. Qualitative analysis of the workshops suggest that both teachers and students could identify the superstructure of the texts read, and design graphic organizers that show the characteristic multimodality of the texts of Natural Science and Technology, which would favor the reading comprehension of the text, and, consequently, the learning of the disciplinary content by their students. The use of the TIC resource has improved the way of presenting the text information, constituting an important motivating strategy for both, teachers and students.
