Una universidad 'Agrícola'. Los primeros proyectos de educación agronómica superior en el norte argentino (Tucumán, 1914 -ca.1930)

Abstract

Centramos nuestra atención en los primeros proyectos de enseñanza superior de las ciencias agronómicas llevados a cabo por la Universidad de Tucumán (durante su etapa provincial y posteriormente nacional), con el propósito de visibilizar el desempeño de las instituciones educativas en la región norte del país como formadoras de recursos humanos en materia agrícola. Analizaremos las propuestas iniciales en el ámbito universitario, las principales directrices de los proyectos y los obstáculos que impidieron afianzar las carreras. A la vez, examinaremos la reorientación de esta casa de altos estudios hacia la formación de peritos agrónomos de nivel secundario, elemento basal que le permitió, en años posteriores, concretar los proyectos primigenios de instrucción agrícola superior de carácter regional. La elección de nuestro objeto de estudio permite aproximarnos a un tópico virtualmente desatendido y, junto con la apropiación de documentación inexplorada, revisar ciertas narrativas generalizadoras sobre la temática.

We will focus on the first higher education projects in agronomy carried out by the University of Tucumán (during its provincial and later national stage), with the purpose of making visible the performance of educational institutions in the northern region of the country as trainers of human resources in agricultural matters. We will analyze the initial proposals at the university level, the main guidelines of the projects and the obstacles that prevented the consolidation of careers. At the same time, we will examine the reorientation of this house of high studies towards the formation of agronomists of secondary level, basal element that allowed it, in later years, to concretize the original projects of superior agricultural instruction of regional character. The choice of our object of study allows us to approach a topic virtually neglected and, together with the appropriation of unexplored documentation, to relativize generalizing narratives on the subject
