Salud y creencias en Argentina: Saberes, decisiones y demandas

Abstract

Este artículo analiza los datos sobre salud y creencias que surgen de la SegundaEncuesta Nacional sobre Creencias y Actitudes Religiosas en Argentina (2019).Desde una perspectiva de la sociología de las creencias y las religiones, presentaremos los datos sobre el nivel de importancia de la consulta a especialistas religiosos por motivos de salud. Luego, haremos foco en las diferentes creencias y pertenencias religiosas que se movilizan, se abandonan o resultan indiferentes frente al sufrimiento de distintas enfermedades, en las estrategias de gestión delpadecimiento trazadas a partir de las consultas -atendiendo tanto a sus relaciones de exclusión como de complementariedad- que las personas que respondieron hacen o dicen preferir cuando atraviesan diversos problemas de salud. Por último, analizaremos cómo estas creencias y pertenencias religiosas inciden o no a la hora de definir posiciones en torno a asuntos controversiales como laeutanasia, o temas de agenda de salud pública como la legalización de la marihuana y la sanción de la ley de interrupción voluntaria del embarazo.

This article analyzes the data on health and beliefs that emerge from the Second National Survey on Religious Beliefs and Attitudes in Argentina (2019). From a perspective of the sociology of beliefs and religions, we will present the data on the level of importance of consulting religious specialists for health reasons. Then, we will focus on the different beliefs and religious affiliations that are mobilized, abandoned or are indifferent to the suffering of different diseases. We address the issue of the disease management strategies drawn from the consultations - taking into account both their exclusionary relationships, and of complementarity- that people who responded do or say they prefer when they go through various health problems. Finally, we will analyze how these beliefs and religious affiliations influence or not when defining positions around controversial issues, such as euthanasia, or issues on the public health agenda, such as the legalization of marijuana and the sanction of the law of voluntary termination of pregnancy.
