El populismo en las independencias hispanoamericanas

Abstract

Se reconstruye uno de los debates acerca de las independencias hispanoamericanas, en torno a las doctrinas populistas de soberanía. Para ello se rastrea la primera obra que postuló la tesis de su influencia (el trabajo de Manuel Giménez Fernández) y luego se revisan los textos que se preguntaron por las influencias teóricas en los procesos independentistas, así como otros trabajos que hicieron énfasis en la discusión teórica de las doctrinas y sus alcances. Por último, se revisa la historiografía actual que prioriza el análisis de las culturas políticas y los imaginarios colectivos, en lugar de retomar el debate en torno a influencias ilustradas o escolásticas.

This work analyses one of the debates concerning the Spanish-American independences, that one around the philosophical influences of them, especially, of the populist doctrines of sovereignty. We seek the work of Manuel Giménez Fernandez's, the first who postulated the above mentioned thesis; then we analyses the texts that studied the independence processes, and asked about the influences, as well as other works that inside the same record, did emphasis in the theoretical discussion of the doctrines. Finally, we check the current historiography, which seeks into the political cultures and the social imaginaries, instead of the debate around illustrated or scholastic influences.
