La salud en las yungas ¿Cuales son los principales problemas según la medicina tradicional y la formal?

Abstract

En el presente trabajo se compara la medicina tradicional de dos regiones (las dolencias identificadas como más relevantes y la herbolaria empleada para tratarlas), y se cotejan las dolencias más importantes según la interpretación del sistema de salud tradicional y el biomédico. Las diferencias halladas en el número de menciones y de plantas usadas para tratar las diferentes dolencias en la medicina tradicional de las dos regiones estudiadas muestran que ambos sistemas médicos reconocen las mismas afecciones pero con distintas ponderaciones de importancia. Al comparar el sistema tradicional con el biomédico, la primera diferencia notable es la organización conceptual de las causas de pérdida de la salud. Se discuten acciones futuras que fomenten el progresivo intercambio en las partes de modo de integrar ambos sistemas en uno solo y en confluencia con los intereses de los receptores.

In the present work the traditional medicine of two regions is compared by considering the ailments identified as the most important and the herbal medicine used to treat them. As well, the most important illnesses according to their interpretation by the traditional health system and the biomedical one are presented. The differences found in the number of mentions and plants used to treat the different ailments in the traditional medicine from the two studied regions show that both medical systems recognize the same affections but with different considerations of importance. When comparing the traditional system with the biomedical one, the first remarkable difference is the conceptual organization of the causes of the health loss. Future actions that should promote the progressive interchange among both medical systems are discussed with the expectation that this contribute to integrate them in a single system in conformity with the interests of the patients.
