Rewes, geografías simbólicas y territorios enajenados. Las fotografías étnicas de rewes y el reclamo territorial mapuche en Neuquén, Argentina

Abstract

En este trabajo analizamos un corpus de siete fotografías étnicas delmundo mapucheproducidas por diversos fotógrafos que recorrieron la Patagoniadesde fines del siglo XIX hasta comienzos del siglo XX, con el objetivo de evaluar la visibilidad de los rewes en estas imágenes. Para ello, analizamos ciertas características de estas estructuras sagradas fotografiadas (forma, materia prima,emplazamiento, personas y cultura material asociada) que refieren a su materialidad, su relación con el territorio y su vínculo con la cosmovisión mapuche. Nos interesa reflexionar acerca de la contraposición existente entre la conexión establecida por las fotografías de rewes con la cosmovisión y lasacralidad mapuche y la usurpación territorial actual sufrida por la comunidad mapuche neuquina Paichil Antriao, cuyo rewe permanece en tierras de titularidad privada. Así, la presencia de los rewes en las fotografías antiguas delatasu ausencia actual en los territorios tradicionalmente mapuche.

In this paper we analyze a corpus of seven photographs of the mapuche world produced by several travelers along Patagonia from the late 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century, with the aim of evaluating the visibility of the rewes in these images. We analyze certain characteristics of these photographed sacred structures (shape, raw material, location, persons and material culture associated) that relate to its materiality, its relationship with the territory and its link with the mapuche worldview. We want to reflect on the existing contrast between the connection established by the photographs of rewes with the mapuche worldview and sacredness and the current territorial usurpation suffered by the mapuche community Paichil Antriao of Neuquén, whose rewe remains on land of private ownership. Thus, the presence of rewes in ancient photographs reveals his current absence in the traditional mapuche territories.
